36. What is the difference between a shelf company and a new company registration?Prior to 1998 new company registrations were referred to as shelf companies. This was because it used to take 4 weeks to incorporate a company. Businesses such as Corporate Express offered a same day company incorporation service by incorporating several companies at a time and keeping them on the shelf until sold. When one of these shelf companies was purchased the original subscriber shares were cancelled, new shares were issued and the officeholders updated. Company registration has changed a lot since then. Companies can now be registered on-line with the details specified by the applicant. Corporate Express still supplies shelf companies for those who require a previously formed company which has never traded. For details of our current shelf companies please telephone us on 1300 267 739 (CORPEX). To register your new company click here to view our range of companies and order. |
